Purpose for the Research Award:
- To create a culture of recognition and appreciation for outstanding research achievements and contributions made by NIH towards the scientific research development in the field of medical, clinical and public health.
- As a motivation and encouragement for NIH researchers to achieve further heights in improving the quality of contributions in research and innovations.
- As a benchmark of excellence and an ‘eye opener’ to NIH’s renowned research and innovation works in improvising the nations health care and delivery system for overall improvement of Malaysians health and quality of life.

Does the COVID-19 study can be included in the SHEET A for categories such as Best Researcher Award and Young Researcher Award?
Yes, it can be included in these two categories.
Which awards that are categorised based on Public Health, Medical and Biomedical?
Who can apply for the Best Research Award and Special Research Award (COVID-19)?
Which category that only allows the Director of each institute selects the winners?
Can a deceased officer be nominated for the Ungku Omar Award?
Can a former Director be nominated for the Ungku Omar Award?
For the Young Researcher Award, an officer had served NIH for a certain period of time, left and came back. Would he/she be eligible to be nominated?
Can an award committee member or institute director participate in any award?
For the Excellent Support Service Award, can institutes send multiple nominations?
If an officer has left NIH after 31st July 2021, is she/he eligible to be nominated in any awards?
Is the Office of NIH Registrar & Office of NIH Manager Division eligible to compete in the Outstanding Support Service Award?
No, because the award is only reserved for the Institutes only (8 + 5). However, these 2 divisions can compete in other categories.
